PODCAST: Providing Public History: Challenges & Opportunities

The Centre for the Historical Record is a new initiative at Kingston University which promotes collaborative research and knowledge exchange between historians, archivists, curators, heritage providers and the public. By acting as a forum for debate the CHR also plans to provide a central location where historians, other professional and public researchers, and all those who are devoted to preserving, displaying and presenting historical artefacts, can meet to share their common concerns and formulate new strategies.

To mark the launch of this new Centre, we invited people with an interest in the future of public history to join us for a workshop and discussion of the challenges and opportunities facing providers and researchers in the 21st century, and to contribute to the direction this important new Centre should take. Speakers from the Museums, Archives and Heritage sector will share their experiences of engaging with public history and there will be ample time for discussion and networking.
